Nigeria’s importers can’t even open Form M without your SONCAP Product Certificate. At the port, each shipment needs a SONCAP Certificate from the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON). PCN handles testing, inspection and both certificates from India, and moves you to a yearly route once your exports become regular.
| Route A: Unregistered | Test and inspect every shipment; certificate valid for one shipment. Good for trial orders. |
|---|---|
| Route B: Registered | Product registered after testing; valid for one year with shipment inspections |
| Route C: Licensed | For manufacturers with a quality system and factory audit; valid for one year |
SONCAP covers most imported goods. Not covered: food, drugs and medicines (handled by NAFDAC), raw materials for bona fide manufacturers with import permits, military goods, and used goods other than vehicles. Telecom equipment also needs NCC type approval.
The Product Certificate proves product conformity and supports Form M. The SONCAP Certificate is issued by SON for the shipment and used for customs clearance.
Route A covers one shipment. Routes B and C are valid for one year.
No. They are regulated by NAFDAC.
Accredited reports to IEC or equivalent standards are commonly accepted, subject to review against the Nigerian standard.
Requirements, portals and fees change often. PCN confirms the applicable rules for each product before quoting. Certificates are issued by the relevant authority, accredited certification body or notified body.
Send your product name, HS code and destination. Our Delhi team will confirm the route, testing and timeline within 48 hours.
