Indonesia SNI & SDPPI Certification

Indonesia applies mandatory SNI to many electrical products, cables, tyres, steel and toys. It requires an SPPT SNI certificate from an accredited LSPro, testing and usually a factory audit in India. Telecom devices need SDPPI, and some 4G/5G devices must meet TKDN local content rules.

Who Needs It?

Indonesia makes the Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI) mandatory for a wide range of products, mainly through Ministry of Industry regulations. These include household electrical appliances, cables, lamps, air-conditioners, toys, steel, tyres, helmets and glass. Covered products need an SPPT-SNI certificate (product certificate for use of the SNI mark) and must carry the SNI mark before import.

SPPT-SNI certificates are issued by Indonesian product certification bodies (LSPro) accredited by KAN. Certification requires a factory audit and testing of samples in an Indonesian laboratory. You will need an Indonesian importer with a valid business identification number (NIB). Telecom and wireless devices need separate certification from the Directorate General of Resources and Equipment of Post and Informatics (SDPPI), and 4G/5G devices are also subject to local-content (TKDN) rules.

Timeline, Validity & Cost Drivers

SPPT-SNI certification typically takes 3–6 months, including the factory audit and local testing. Certificates are generally valid for 4 years, with surveillance audits during that period. SDPPI certification for radio devices usually runs in parallel.

Cost depends on the product scope, the number of models and factories, auditor travel, and laboratory fees in Indonesia.
