Home › Services › ISO 9001 Certification

ISO 9001 certification is the world’s most widely recognised proof that a business runs on a documented, customer-focused and continually improving Quality Management System (QMS). PCN Global India Corporation helps manufacturers, service providers, exporters and MSMEs across India design a practical QMS, prepare the documentation and clear the certification audit with an accredited certification body — first time.

Key Highlights

  • International standard for Quality Management Systems, applicable to organisations of any size or sector
  • Current edition ISO 9001:2026 published on 16 September 2026, replacing ISO 9001:2015 after a transition period of about three years
  • Voluntary in India, but widely demanded in government tenders, GeM/PSU vendor registration, OEM supply chains and export contracts
  • Certificates issued by certification bodies accredited under IAF members such as NABCB (Quality Council of India)
  • Certificate valid for 3 years with annual surveillance audits
  • Integrates easily with ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 13485 as an Integrated Management System

What is ISO 9001 Certification?

ISO 9001 is published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and sets out the requirements for a Quality Management System. It is built on seven quality management principles — customer focus, leadership, engagement of people, process approach, improvement, evidence-based decision making and relationship management.

ISO 9001 certification means an independent, accredited certification body has audited your QMS and confirmed that it meets every applicable requirement of the standard. The certificate shows customers, regulators and buyers that your organisation consistently delivers products and services that meet customer and statutory requirements, and that it works systematically to improve.

ISO 9001:2026 – What Has Changed?

The revised ISO 9001:2026 was published on 16 September 2026. The high-level structure and core principles remain the same, but the new edition places stronger emphasis on:

  • Quality culture & ethical behaviour — top management must actively promote a culture of quality and integrity
  • Risks and opportunities — more structured evaluation and prioritisation, rather than a simple risk register
  • Planning of changes — clearer expectations for planning, communicating and monitoring significant changes
  • Climate change — organisations must determine whether climate change is a relevant issue for their context and interested parties
  • Organisational knowledge — identifying, retaining and applying knowledge needed for consistent performance
Note: Organisations already certified to ISO 9001:2015 have a transition period of approximately three years. New certifications should be planned directly against ISO 9001:2026 — PCN’s gap analysis covers both editions.

The cost of ISO 9001 certification depends on the number of employees, number of sites, complexity of processes and the certification body chosen, since audit man-days are calculated as per IAF mandatory documents. Contact us for a fixed, transparent quotation.

Validity & Surveillance Audits

An ISO 9001 certificate is valid for three years. The certification body conducts surveillance audits in the first and second years to confirm the QMS is being maintained, followed by a recertification audit before the certificate expires. PCN offers annual retainer support for internal audits, surveillance audit preparation and ISO 9001:2026 transition.

Important: Always verify that your certification body is accredited by an IAF member (such as NABCB). Certificates from unaccredited bodies are often rejected in tenders and by overseas buyers.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is ISO 9001 certification?

ISO 9001 certification is independent confirmation by an accredited certification body that your organisation operates a Quality Management System (QMS) meeting the requirements of the ISO 9001 standard, helping you deliver products and services that consistently meet customer and regulatory requirements.

Is ISO 9001 certification mandatory in India?

ISO 9001 is voluntary in India. However, it is frequently required in government and PSU tenders, OEM vendor registration, export contracts and large corporate supply chains, which makes it a commercial necessity for many businesses.

How long does it take to get ISO 9001 certification?

For a small or mid-sized organisation, the process typically takes 4 to 12 weeks, depending on the maturity of existing processes, the number of sites and how quickly records of QMS operation can be generated before the certification audit.

What is the validity of an ISO 9001 certificate?

An ISO 9001 certificate is valid for three years, subject to successful annual surveillance audits. A recertification audit is conducted before expiry to renew the certificate for another three-year cycle.

What is new in ISO 9001:2026?

ISO 9001:2026 was published on 16 September 2026. It keeps the core principles of customer focus, process approach and continual improvement, while strengthening requirements on quality culture and ethical behaviour, risks and opportunities, change management, organisational knowledge and climate-related considerations. Certified organisations get a transition period of about three years.

Who issues ISO 9001 certificates in India?

ISO itself does not certify organisations. Certificates are issued by certification bodies accredited by an IAF-member accreditation body – in India, primarily NABCB under the Quality Council of India. PCN helps you choose a credible, accredited certification body.

Can a small business or startup get ISO 9001 certified?

Yes. ISO 9001 is designed for organisations of every size and sector – from single-location MSMEs and startups to large multi-site manufacturers and service providers. The QMS is scaled to the size and complexity of your business.
