UK REACH: Chemicals Compliance for Great Britain

UK REACH is separate from EU REACH. GB importers of chemical substances at 1 tonne or more a year must register, unless a UK Only Representative registers for the Indian manufacturer. In 2026, registration deadlines moved to October 2029, 2030 and 2031, depending on tonnage and hazard. PCN helps chemical, dye and API exporters plan their route.

What UK REACH Means for Indian Exporters

Since 1 January 2021, Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales) has had its own chemicals regime: UK REACH, which the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) runs. Northern Ireland still follows EU REACH. An EU REACH registration does not cover the GB market. Substances made in or imported into GB at 1 tonne or more per year need their own UK REACH registration, under phased deadlines.

Duties fall on the GB importer. A non-UK manufacturer, such as an Indian chemical, textile or component exporter, can appoint a GB-based Only Representative (OR) to take on those duties. That way your UK customers do not each have to register the same substance.

How PCN Helps

We screen your bill of materials for SVHC and restricted substances and arrange accredited lab testing. We also prepare customer declarations and coordinate Only Representative support where you need it. Most exporters also need EU compliance, so we combine UK REACH with EU RoHS and REACH compliance. For electrical goods, we pair it with UKCA marking and the UK Electrical Equipment Safety Regulations. See all UK certification services.
